Deep Rest, Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra
Deep Rest is a revelatory, deliberate practice of quietude and non-doing. In fact, it’s an undoing. Innate and necessary to our wellbeing, within this pause we go through the natural but often overlooked process of integration.
Restorative Yoga is an act of intentional stillness and subtle openings. Passive in nature and fully propped in positions that create subtle openings to the physical and energetic body, Restorative Yoga requires no flexibility, no balance, and is adaptable to all body types and ability. A journey through our nervous system, our humanness, and into the spaciousness of Rest, reclamation, and remembering beyond. An aid for stiffness, anxiety, tension, busyness, and insomnia, it is also a practice of abiding that, integrated into our lives, can teach us about patience, observance and the profound effects of response versus reaction.
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that leads us to a deep state of Rest. Done lying down in a comfortable and supported posture, Yoga Nidra provides points of attetion that move throughout the physical body to guide us into a deeply regenerative state. Also known as yogic sleep, it mimics the brain wave patterns that occur during states of deep rest. It said that when the body and the mind rest, the soul awakens.
Deep, deliberate Rest is the medicine for modern life, relieving stress while increasing clarity, creativity, and compassion.
A reminder, to work slowly through the gray area of your life. To be patient and gentle with yourself.
You are still becoming.
Gwendolyn teaches a fluid, intuitive style of Restorative Yoga that emphasizes the gentle unfurling into and out of each long held and deeply invitational posture. Using support such as bolsters, blankets, blocks and sandbags, Restorative Yoga is all about held space. Space held for you to integrate and process your experiences. Space to greet yourself fully. Suited for everyone, (especially those who don't realize it) the grounding art of the practice is achieved by offering gentle yet palpable sensations of comforting what is tender and cracking open what is stuck.
A truly special cultivation of the spaciousness of Deliberate Rest.
