KOKORO

mind heart spirit: an immersion into the Reiki flow

11:00am - 7:00pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Novelty, Ohio.

Awe before nature. Deep listening. Reverence as a cultivar of energy. Presence as healing. Hara as true being. Hands as instruments of the heart.

This retreat style practice day invites both beginners and seasoned practitioners to come together to explore the sacred simplicity of experiential learning. Within this intentional container exists fertile conditions for you to connect and expand your relationship with Reiki, Greater Nature, your own true nature, and the kinship woven between us all.

Exploring personal attunement, energetic integrity, communion and animism, this is a reflective and heartfelt retreat for those on the path of practice.

. small delights and gentle comforts

As a Japanese American Reiki practitioner I am on a life long path of reconciliation; of culture, heritage, ancestral lands and practices, and to what it means to heal. I seek to honor and share the practice of Reiki while removing myself from the standards of Westernized learning and expanding beyond the modern Usui method. Return to energy as the teacher. Patient study and practice as the Way.

You can read more about me and my relationship with Reiki in an interview with Rachael Hägglund here.

In lieu of attunement levels (Reiki I, Reiki 2, etc.) this is my current offering if you would like to learn Reiki from me, with me. Day or weekend attunements are a very Western way of “bestowing” a perception of validity, but not congruent with the Japanese way of both teaching and learning, which emphasizes time and apprenticeship, not necessarily to a master but to the Dō (way of life) itself. As a cultural practice it is an act of humility to remove the lust of achievement from our lifelong process of self cultivation, which in turn, teaches us about presence and strengthens the ways in which we can offer a healing hand to others.

This gathering welcomes those who have studied Reiki or have previous experience practicing Reiki at any level with me or any teacher. If you have not studied Reiki with a teacher before but are interested in attending please reach out to discuss if this retreat is a good fit - it may be, especially if we have worked together privately.

Our time together is not a Reiki attunement or certification but an invaluable day of communion that will serve to inform and inspire a lifetime of practice. This is sacred and devotional study into both a way of healing & a way of being.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR

Gwendolyn Ren offers instruments of pause that nurture a beautiful and sustainable life.  A curator of experiences and a catalyst for healing she is devoted to, and shares lovingly, the practices of deep listening and the acts of tending the sacred human.

A Great Granddaughter of the Rising Sun, my work as a gatherer and a guide, a spiritual companion, and a folk healer is written into my bones. This heart, these hands, this voice, destined to be used as instruments of connection. Drawing from many modalities my work now is rooted in the Japanese way of Reiki, my blood flowing back to the mountain streams of the island and the soil itself.

I approach life and this work with an expectant patience, a deep reverence, and a playful trust.
